Research network

A key component of the Weight Management Initiative is a research network to evaluate the effectiveness of current programs and to create and disseminate new knowledge about weight management. Thirty KP scientists in six regions joined a Programwide research network in 2002.

KP’s Garfield Memorial Fund has established a Weight Management Research Initiative, allocating funds to evaluate strategic issues in weight management at Kaiser Permanente and within the larger community. The research initiative will:

  • fund Kaiser Permanente and community-based proposals,
  • examine issues related to infrastructure and clinical development, and
  • create a smooth path for linking with outside researchers and/or organizations for collaborative or funding purposes.
