Getting in Balance© initiative for Kaiser Permanente members and
employees
Our weight management initiative for adult members focuses on healthy
choices—not just losing weight. Medical evidence shows that even small
weight losses can reduce the prevalence and impact of obesity-related
conditions.
The key messages in our Getting in Balance© initiative include:
Get up and get moving.
Exercise daily for 30 - 60 minutes.
Walk more--and use a pedometer.
Eat healthy.
Eat at least five servings of fruits and vegetables every day.
Replace soda and juice with water.
Take time to take care of yourself.
Balance work and relaxation.
Commit to small changes and healthy choices.
Strive for a healthy weight--maintaining current weight is a great first step.
Posters and an action plan present and reinforce these messages.
